The ATP Staff would like to thank Muriel Glarner and Grace Hamlet for their many years of volunteer service to the ATP. We would also like to welcome Frank (Tony) Dabice and Krystal Eshleman to our delivery group. In addition, we thank all of our delivery volunteers who each month "arise to the call" and deliver the ATP with practically zero missed deliveries. This is not an easy task especially during the coming and going months of our seasonal residents. THANK YOU, ONE AND ALL !
Flo and I wish to thank everyone for all the kindnesses shown to us during my stay in the hospital. I had a defibulator inserted, so I’ll be raring to go in a few weeks. Everyone has been so caring and thoughtful to Flo and me. Thanks again, Len and Flo Many Thanks to You All To all the wonderful Golden Ponds people, we would like to say thank you for all the phone calls, emails, condolences, cards and donations to charities and the memorial for Ken. Words cannot begin to express how very grateful and appreciative we are. We are sure he feels the same way. The park and the people, he loved it all so much. He tried so hard to make it back to Golden Ponds this winter. We were lucky to have retired early and have 10 great years around the ponds. As we all know , he definitely didn’t retire from helping everyone and keeping the park so active. I miss him so much and so do many others. Thank you all, Louise Napier and Family We Are Blessed…… Thank you for all the cards, expressions of sympathy and well wishes from the Golden Ponds community. To all the people who visited me on the 21st it was really appreciated and showed the meaning of true friendship. Bill and Ellen, thanks so much for the drop off and pick up at the airport and also for the others who offered to drive us. Also for those responsible for taking down our Christmas decorations - it was great that we did not have to deal with that job when we arrived back. We are blessed to live in such a giving place and we thank you all. Ken was a huge part of Golden Ponds and touched many lives - He will truly be missed. Danna & Larry Teal Words cannot express …… Words cannot express how grateful I am for all that was done for me and my family after Jim’s passing. The prayers, cards, food and words of sympathy were most appreciated. Knowing I am surrounded by the wonderful people of Golden Ponds will help me get through this difficult time. Thank you again, Delores McMahon
Thanks for the Memories……… Dear Friends and Golden Ponders: It has been sixteen years of fun, laughter and memories. But due to my illness, I am unable to travel to Golden Ponds any longer. All good things must come to an end, so to all our friends at Golden Ponds, farewell and you will never be forgotten. We love you all and Thanks for the Memories.Chris & Lou Janos
MANAGER’S NOTES
MANAGER’S NOTES Welcome New Residents – Ernie & Heather Millichamp, 1791 Bar Harbor Drive. They have been renting in Golden Ponds in the past and are new proud homeowners. Their hometown is Cambridge, Ontario. Bill and Jean Delaney, 1832 Walden Pond Drive. Their home town is Fulton, NY. Change of addresses – P.Q. and Jan Miller will be relocating to 10100 Mill Creek Lane and will be full-time residents. Gary Loveys and Viann Whiteway have purchased the home at 1905 Bar Harbor Drive.
GOLF CARTS, BICYCLES & PEOPLE MUST HAVE LIGHTS ON THEM OR DO NOT GO OUT EARLY MORNING OR EARLY OR LATE EVENING. I see golf carts, bicycles and walkers without any kind of light after dark. This may be a pain to you but after you get hit, it is kind of late to turn your light on if you have one. Or, if you are hurrying home before someone sees you, don’t believe it. You were seen! Parking at the clubhouse is for residents attending activities – not because you want you or your company to park there so you don’t have to shuffle cars around. For those residents returning for the first time this season and wonder where the antique car is. A few years ago, the owners of the park gave the car to the H.O.A. They maintained it for a while but then decided not to so it was disposed of.
STOP SIGNS are for automobiles, golf carts, bicycles and people. This is a little late but in case you can remember until the end of 2012, we did deliver quite a few holiday cards from the Golden Ponds Post Office. I do not feel it is necessary to do this as you can come or send someone to check your cards. Even after I reminded some that they had cards, they didn’t pick them up. Oh well, we tried. For those on Guaranteed Rent: I have had a circumstance come up lately that I need to share with you. When I suggested that the single homeowners put someone’s name on the title to your home, with an "OR" in between the names, I would hope that you followed these instructions and did not eliminate your name entirely and put the title to your home in someone else’s name without your name anywhere on the title. If you have done this, you have sacrificed your Guaranteed Lifetime Rent as the Guaranteed Lifetime Certificates normally only had a husband and wife’s name on it.
This is just a reminder that children should not be riding their bicycles around the parking lot of the clubhouse or on common grounds. It is in the rules and they must have an adult with them while on common grounds. This is for their own safety so please remind them of this. Just don’t send them out for a bike ride. Don’t forget that golf carts and automobiles should not be parked on the grass. By the all of your holiday lights and bulbs should have been removed. Save them until next year. Hobby & Collectible Show – The date and time is all set. It will be on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 9-11:00. Set up will be the day before. We have not had a show in a couple of years but I have been asked about doing it this year. Please plan accordingly and put your thinking cap on as to what you can share with other residents in the park. Also, for those that paint, etc., you can show the same thing you showed when we had the shows, and no one will remember – both because the residents are new and our memories – well they aren’t the best. Let Helen know you would like to show and tell as soon as possible so tables can be set aside. I have asked the Bazaar committee if they would like to do a mini bazaar at this time and they have agreed. They will be located on the Tile Floor and Stage, if needed. The Ceramics Class and Golden Ponds Floral Department will be showing in the North Clubhouse where the Decorator Room is normally located so be sure you check both buildings. The Bocci Group has agreed to sell refreshments for a money making profit for that group. Thanks for volunteering. The Craft Group has agreed to sell their wares too! They will be located in the North Clubhouse. It will be a fun day so mark the date on your calendar!
Readers – That is a hobby also. Come, sit and read for a couple of hours! Also, watching television is a hobby but we will have to work on that! I am still doing the "In Memory of" table for residents that have items made by a Golden Ponds resident that has passed away. This is going to be a busy table so please let me know if you want to contribute an item to that table. I have been getting good response to this show so if you are thinking of it, give me a call so I can reserve you a table. A reminder that our facilities are for the use of the residents and their guests and a guest is defined as someone from out of town visiting you and staying in your home. Also, there are no provisions in Golden Ponds for Guest R.V.’s. They will have to make arrangements elsewhere. Manager, Helen Cope
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH I have had many people ask me why we collect aluminum cans and what we do with the money? Let’s start from the beginning. A number of years ago some folks here in the Ponds noticed that a large number of aluminum cans were being put in the trash or the recycle bins. Rather than see them go to the landfill why not collect and sell them and use the money to donate to Hospice, the Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, the Sheriff’s Christmas Fund, Guardian ad Litem and many others charities in past years. Some monies have been used to buy supplies (bags), Safety vests for use during the Christmas drive through and bazaar, and the free picnic for everyone, as well as, National Night Out. First we needed people to place cans where it would be easy for volunteers to pick up and a place to keep them until they could be bagged. A crib was built at the end of Stonybrook Drive. People that are not able to take cans to the crib were asked to place clean cans, no garbage, tin or foil, on their mail boxes on Sunday afternoon before 5:00PM. Over the years we have had many volunteers collect, process, bag and take the bags to the scrap dealer. I can name a few of those people: Frank Kincade, Larry Durocher, Ken Cooper, Mike Murphy, Bruce Elliott, Joan & Al MacDonald, Ron McCallister, Glenn Cope, Regis McIntosh, Gary LeBlanc, Henry Hafer, Ralph & Jeannine Carabin, Vinnie Crowley and many more over the years. Thank you one and all and thank all those people that take the time to place your cans either on the mail boxes or in the crib. P.S. Thanks to Regis McIntosh we now have a secure place to store cans under lock and key. Bob Barr, Barbara McCallister,
Ralph Carabin NHW & Charlie Dearcop C.O.P
Once again the people of Golden Ponds have answered the call for volunteers. Many "new" folks stepped forward and placed their names on the sign up board to help direct traffic along with a bunch of our veteran standbys that have been through the perils of dodging errant drivers attempting to navigate some of our tight corners. None reported any mishaps on their person however, the same can't be said of several luminaries! Many Thanks to the following people for a job WELL DONE: John Stringer Al Arraiz Mary Murphy Jim Breazzano Harry Dziezek Mary Hall Charlie Dearcop Helen Cox Will Cox Carol Diehl Jean Michler Cindy Webser Moe Chennette Bob Richards Jim Robertson Gary Lange Russell Landt Bob Moore Roger Scott Phil Rebholz Linda Rebholz Ken Turner Barbara Sestakauska Jean Citto Frank Soldano Janet Miller Ken Michler and all the spouses and friends that assisted the volunteers . A special thanks to Sheriff Ken Mascara for leading those folks that took the time to decorate their golf carts (they looked "awesome), Shirley Arraiz and Carol Cole for keeping count of cars etc., Doug Harper & Jerry Cole for picking up and returning traffic cones, Neighborhood Watch for donating Safety vests from the aluminum can sales, plus some donated by other people.
Thanks to all the people in Golden Ponds for making this all happen. To have a good Neighbor, we must be a good neighbor. God Bless Bob Barr Barbara McCallister Ralph
